Feeling unwanted sucks! No one wants to feel like they are worthless, unimportant, and unwanted. I’ve struggled with this my whole life and I think the reason I struggle with it so much because no one has ever taught me how to cope with feeling unwanted in healthy ways. In this article, I want to share 10 different ways that you can cope when you’re feeling unwanted in your life and relationships. These are things that have worked really well for me and my clients when they were struggling with feeling unwanted in their lives and relationships.

Meditation

Mindfulness meditation has been shown to help people change the way they respond to feelings of inadequacy, frustration and powerlessness. This exercise is particularly helpful if you are feeling anxious or panicky. Try sitting comfortably with your back straight and eyes closed. Take a few deep breaths and mentally note each inhale as one number in ascending order, counting up from 1 to 10. Inhale again and mentally note the exhale as another number in descending order, counting down from 10 to 1.

Physical Activity

Find a physical activity that helps clear your mind. For example, go for a jog, do some push-ups or spend time at the gym.

Surround Yourself with Loved Ones

The first thing you can do when you are feeling unwanted is have the right support. Start by surrounding yourself with people who care about you and love you, even if it’s just one or two people. It might feel like it’s not enough at first, but make a goal to hang out with them every day until your feelings start to change for the better. If this doesn’t work, try calling someone and telling them how bad you feel.
